Gino Severini. Modernity as Dialogue

Dates: 5 July – 1 November 2026
Venue: Museum of the Etruscan Academy and the City of Cortona (Museo dell'Accademia Etrusca e della Città), Palazzo Casali

The exhibition offers a critical and visually engaging overview of Gino Severini's career, with over 80 works including paintings and drawings from international museums and private collections, archival documents and a multimedia area using 3D headsets to reconstruct monumental works.

  • Works on display: paintings, drawings, preparatory sketches and original documents illustrating Severini's creative phases;
  • International loans: highlights from institutions such as the Centre Pompidou and important private collections;
  • Fresco studies: original documentation and research on the murals produced in French-speaking Switzerland;
  • Curatorial project and catalogue: curated by Daniela Fonti and Margherita d’Ayala Valva, accompanied by a scholarly catalogue;
  • Immersive experience: a multimedia installation with 3D headsets to explore large-scale, rarely exhibited works.

The exhibition examines Severini's role as a cultural mediator between artistic languages and traditions, presenting thematic sections that trace the principal seasons of his artistic development. It is an opportunity to reassess twentieth-century modernity through a focused museum journey.
