Giacomo Balla. The Style of the Avant-Garde — Works from the Collections

The MART museum in Rovereto is showing, for the first time in Italy, the complete set of Giacomo Balla works held by the Fondazione Biagiotti Cigna and the Laura and Lavinia Biagiotti collection. Running from 16 May to 18 October 2026, the exhibition highlights Balla's central role in Futurism and his conception of a 'total art' that extends from painting to objects, furniture and fashion.

What to see

  • About 200 works, including paintings, studies and crafted objects.
  • Furniture and design pieces that show how Balla's ideas entered everyday life.
  • Clothing and accessories documenting his experimental approach to fashion.
  • Panels and objects that translate dynamic motifs (wedges, vortices, arabesques) into utilitarian forms.
  • Works revealing the creative dialogue with Fortunato Depero and the futurist reconstruction of visual space.
