Ghiringhelli Art Gallery debuts in Milan with contemporary Japanese art

Milan welcomes a new exhibition space: the Ghiringhelli Art Gallery opens as a pop-up venue at Via Tortona 20, showcasing projects focused on contemporary Japanese art. The initiative aims to broaden Italian audiences' familiarity with recent practices from Japan.

What to see

The inaugural group show, titled Refracted Worlds. Contemporary Japan Through Multiple Lenses, gathers works that investigate image, surface and perception across varied media.

  • Kohei Nawa – experiments with visual mediation;
  • Yukie Ishikawa – layered canvases reflecting the time of practice;
  • Kenjiro Okazaki – conceptually dense pieces;
  • Mr. – pop aesthetics and contemporary visual codes;
  • Ayako Rokkaku – performative painting and bodily gesture;
  • Yuji Ueda – ceramic experimentation;
  • Noritaka Tatehana and the collective Chim↑Pom – critical and provocative contributions.

Why visit

The exhibition offers a non-stereotyped perspective on contemporary Japanese art, pairing accessibility with critical curation. As a pop-up, the gallery creates opportunities for direct exchange between artists, collectors and the public and may evolve into new formats or locations.
