Genoa approves new guidelines for autonomy of adults with disabilities

The municipal council has approved a resolution to define and reinforce the System for the autonomy of adults with disabilities, turning years of pilot projects into a more stable and integrated framework.

The measure builds on experience — including initiatives funded by the PNRR — and organizes a local network that currently includes four cohousing units and seven laboratories aimed at daily living skills, socialization and socio‑occupational autonomy.

• Consolidation of existing services and continuity of pathways;
• Gradual expansion of opportunities for housing, relational and work autonomy;
• Individualized projects integrated across social, health and third‑sector services and families;
• Priority given to enhancing socio‑occupational inclusion, mobility and transport.

'With this resolution the administration recognizes autonomy as a priority of the city's welfare,' said Welfare Councillor Cristina Lodi, stressing the aim of converting pilot schemes into a durable social infrastructure.

The administration aims to develop a public‑private social system capable of offering tailored and adaptable responses to the life plans of adults with disabilities.
