Genoa: City Hall and Palazzo Ducale strengthen collaboration for high-quality culture

On 9 April 2026 the Genoa municipal council approved updated guidelines governing the relationship between the City and the Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture. The move aims to build an integrated cultural policy and reinforce Palazzo Ducale’s role as a central operational hub for the city’s cultural activities.

• Establishment of a shared cultural programming framework among the City, Palazzo Ducale and local partners.
• Delivery of exhibitions, festivals and events with local, national and international relevance.
• Enhancement of the city's cultural heritage in coordination with civic museums and cultural institutions.
• Support for contemporary creativity, youth-focused initiatives and educational activities for schools and families.
• Creation of a Strategic Coordination Committee to plan, monitor and assess projects and outcomes.

Municipal funding, both core and additional contributions, will be allocated based on the quality and relevance of programming and, crucially, on the measured social, economic and cultural impact of activities.
