Free guided visit to the Orto Fontanelle excavation in Gela

On the occasion of the Sicilian Cultural Heritage Day, a special guided visit is organised at the Orto Fontanelle archaeological excavation in Gela. The event is promoted by the Superintendency for Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Caltanissetta in collaboration with the Municipality of Gela.

When: 10 March 2026, 10:00–12:00.

Where: preventive excavation site at Orto Fontanelle, Gela.

• Participation: free and open to the public, recommended for residents, researchers and history enthusiasts.
• Program: guided inspection where archaeologists will present the unearthed structures and explain the historical and scientific importance of the finds.
• Purpose: to bring the public closer to local archaeological heritage and highlight ongoing conservation and research efforts.
