FVG region allocates €900,000 to municipalities with UNESCO sites

The Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia approved the allocation of €900,000 to municipalities hosting UNESCO-designated sites. The measure aims to support the protection, management and enhancement of cultural heritage in the area.

Funds have been distributed as follows:

• Cividale del Friuli: €405,000 (€150,000 current expenditure, €255,000 capital) — for the context "The Lombards in Italy. Places of Power".
• Palmanova: €295,000 (€250,000 current, €45,000 capital) — for "Venetian defensive works of the 16th and 17th centuries: Stato da Terra - Stato da Mar Occidentale".
• Caneva (Palù di Livenza): €200,000 (€100,000 current, €100,000 capital) — for the pile-dwelling site.

The decision follows regional law 11/2019 and is intended to fund conservation works, ordinary maintenance, visitor infrastructure, museum projects and sustainable tourism initiatives.

In practical terms, visitors may see improved signage, paths and local services; municipal authorities will have resources to start restoration works and outreach activities.
