Società delle Api Foundation opens in Rome: residencies, exhibitions

New Rome base

On 14 February 2026 the Società delle Api Foundation opened a permanent space at Via Gregoriana 40 in Rome, near Villa Medici and the Galleria d'Arte Moderna. The venue functions as a production hub and a meeting point between artists, curators and the public.

Residencies and working approach

The 2026 programme emphasises residencies as collaborative research opportunities, linking Rome with other Mediterranean locations. Participants include Pol Taburet (in collaboration with Villa Medici), Chiara Camoni (active between Venice and the Biennale), and a summer site-specific project by Valentine Prissette. Designers Niklas Böll and Simon Stanislawski carry out place-based research, for example on the island of Kastellorizo.

Exhibitions and public events

Alongside residencies, the foundation runs exhibitions and festivals with a participatory focus. Highlighted events include:

• Soglia / Common Acts (curated by Francis Offman) — a multisensory route starting from a private collection;
• Langue Lost, Language Found (curated by Allison Grimaldi Donahue) — a series dedicated to contemporary poetry;
• Your Body, Your Habitat (curated by Bianca Felicori) — exploring relations between body, clothing and architecture;
• Upcoming projects, including a show on Anna Franceschini and an autumn exhibition curated by Alice Motard with Chiara Camoni.

Mission and network

According to president Silvia Fiorucci, Rome serves as a strategic platform to connect Mediterranean and international artists with the city’s cultural fabric. The foundation prioritises lasting ties among communities, territories and artistic practices, and organises workshops and activities that go beyond conventional exhibitions.

Practical information

The venue at Via Gregoriana 40 is open to the public from Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00, by appointment only. The spaces host residencies, shows and events designed to foster exchange between artists, curators, designers and local communities.
