Protocol signed in Rome between Ambiente Mare Italia and the National Association of Italian Sailors (ANMI)

The memorandum of understanding was signed at the historic ANMI headquarters in Piazza Giovanni Randaccio, Rome. The agreement aims to combine environmental protection with maritime culture and establishes a shared programme of training activities, outreach and educational paths, particularly aimed at younger generations.

Leaders from both organisations highlighted the pact's significance: AMI president Alessandro Botti stressed the need to bring knowledge of the sea into schools and communities; Admiral Pierluigi Rosati of ANMI emphasised transmitting respect for the marine environment as an integral part of sailor culture.

  • Training: school programmes and workshops for young people;
  • Outreach: public initiatives and guided visits to association sites;
  • Ecosystem protection: local projects to preserve coastal biodiversity;
  • Heritage promotion: using historical artefacts to educate about maritime traditions.

The collaboration is part of AMI's Green Week, scheduled from 10 to 22 April, which involves more than 15 regions and over 130 events across Italy. The stated aim is to turn ANMI territorial sections into cultural and civic hubs that concretely act on local territories and raise public awareness of the value of the sea.
