Festival of Ancient Villages: weekend events in Traona, Cino and Cercino

The Festival of Ancient Villages brings the Costiera dei Cech to life for two days focused on promoting historic centers and local traditions. The event involves the municipalities of Traona, Cino and Cercino and showcases local projects carried out under the Cech-In program.

The program is varied and suitable for families, history enthusiasts and walkers: reenactments, workshops, guided tours and food-and-wine experiences in historic cellars. An inaugural conference will take place on the evening of 24 April at 20:30, addressing the project's results and future prospects.

Highlights

• Widespread historical reenactment: medieval encampment, traditional crafts, falconry and demonstrations of combat and archery.
• Guided tours to churches, historic buildings and local landmarks.
• Tastings in old cellars with local wine and oil producers.
• Family activities: magic school, jesters, Renaissance songs and dances.
• Walks and excursions on foot or by bike along the Sentiero dei tre borghi and Sentiero Valtellina.
• Local events: guided tours in Traona, typical meals in Cino (including pizzoccherata) and the polenta festival in Cercino.

A free shuttle service is available to move between Traona, Piussogno, Cercino, Cino, Mantello and back to Traona.

The festival is organized by the three municipalities with the support of local Pro Loco associations and the Consorzio Turistico Porte di Valtellina as part of the Cech-In project.
