Fano spotlights its villages with “Il Gusto dei Borghi” celebration
On 17 May 2026 the Mediateca “Montanari” in Fano hosted “Il Gusto dei Borghi”, organized by Confcommercio Marche Nord Pesaro under the direction of Agnese Trufelli with the support of Luciano Cecchini. The event showcased the historical charm and culinary excellence of medieval villages in the Pesaro-Urbino area.
The program combined tastings, panel discussions and awards to celebrate local producers and community initiatives that preserve territorial traditions.
- Porchetta of Cerasa (Macelleria Lepri Mirco) and local cured meats;
- Torta Diplomatica from Cantiano (Bar Pasticceria Pizzeria Del Sole, Cristina Tanfulli);
- Vincisgrassi (oven-baked lasagne) and extra virgin olive oil from Cartoceto, highlighted by the Pro Loco;
- “Oltremondo” beer from the Birrificio Contadino project (Rupoli di Orciano di Pesaro).
A special mention went to Marta Marchetti, director of the Winston Churchill Museum in Montemaggiore al Metauro. Historical reenactors from the The Green Liners association participated, representing figures such as Generals Harold Alexander and Oliver Leese.
Local and regional officials attended the gathering, including regional councillor and former mayor of Mondolfo Nicola Barbieri, mayor of Colli al Metauro Pietro Briganti, Fano deputy mayor Loretta Manocchi, Mombaroccio deputy mayor Marco Spinaci, and Cantiano councillor Simona Carubini. Sporting and event representatives present included CONI Marche president Fabio Luna and Alghiero Omicioli, contact for Giro d'Italia stages and the Giro d'Italia Women.
The organizers also awarded local TV broadcasters (Fano TV, Tele Urbino 2000, Rossini TV and TVRS). The event was coordinated by Sergio Ferri with musical direction by Luca Valentino.
“Il Gusto dei Borghi” provided an afternoon dedicated to local flavors and storytelling, reinforcing the role of villages as cultural and economic assets. Organizers announced plans to repeat the event next year.
