Autore: Redazione 18/04/2026 06:22

EXPOSED Turin Photo Festival 2026: overview

The third edition of EXPOSED reinforces Turin's role as a hub for contemporary photography. A citywide program connects major cultural institutions and independent spaces, addressing themes such as metamorphosis, empathy, cycles of life and representation.

Featured exhibitions and highlights

  • CAMERA – Italian Centre for Photography: the symbolic starting point of the festival, underlining Turin's photographic vocation.
  • Edward Weston: a comprehensive exhibition offering historical perspective on photographic practice.
  • Toni Thorimbert – Donne in vista: a black-and-white project room curated by Walter Guadagnini, revisiting a long-term focus on the female figure.
  • Nick Brandt at Gallerie d'Italia: a visually striking project addressing environmental themes.
  • Diana Markosian – Replaced: a film-installation that reconstructs the end of a relationship through autofictional methods.
  • Paolo Ventura in Piazza San Carlo: staged images evoking metaphysical atmospheres and 1930s circus performers.
  • Crypt of San Michele Arcangelo: photographs from the film Poor Things (2023), bringing cinema into exhibition spaces.

Independent venues and collateral projects

Alongside institutional programs, independent venues such as Quartz Studio, Almanac Inn, Cripta 747, Witty Books, Mucho Mas! and Jest present collective shows and solo projects focused on transformation and memory. Examples include:

  • Anna Orłowska (Quartz Studio): a work that intertwines personal history and vanished communities.
  • Cristina Lavosi (Almanac Inn): an audiovisual installation and film exploring vulnerability and institutional narratives.
  • Claudia Amatruda (Mucho Mas!): Hypersea, investigating hybrid forms between human, animal and artificial.
  • Anouk Chambaz (Recontemporary): video pieces tracing a twilight journey along the Italo-Slovenian border.

Why go

EXPOSED brings together established figures and experimental voices, offering multiple readings from documentary veracity to constructed autofiction. The festival encourages visitors to look beneath surfaces and question the relationships between body, identity and image.
