Civic Museums of Parma: weekend highlights for 18-19 April 2026

This weekend the Civic Museums of Parma present guided introductions, children's workshops and a puppet theatre performance. Events are organised by museum staff and promoted by the Municipality of Parma - Culture and Tourism Department. Below is the detailed programme, practical information and current exhibitions.

Programme - Saturday 18 April 2026

  • Pinacoteca Stuard - 11:00: museum introduction. The guided overview presents the Giuseppe Stuard collection and the municipal artistic holdings. No reservation required; museum ticket needed.
  • Pinacoteca Stuard - 15:30: children's workshop (ages 5–10) "The fantastic flowering gardens". Max 10 participants. Booking required: tel. +39 0521 218420. Free entry for children and accompanying adults.
  • Casa della Musica – Library/Media Library - 10:30 and 16:00: "Sounds of Books - Stories in a suitcase", family storytelling sessions. Booking required: [email protected] / tel. +39 0521 031170.

Programme - Sunday 19 April 2026

  • Pinacoteca Stuard - 11:00: museum introduction (same format as Saturday). Ticket required; no reservation necessary.
  • Castello dei Burattini - 16:00: "The Tale of the Wooden Heads" by Compagnia I burattini dei Ferrari. Booking required: tel. +39 0521 031631. Attendees are advised to arrive 15 minutes early and to hold a valid museum ticket.

Access to the Civic Museums requires purchase of an entrance ticket; residents are entitled to free admission but must still collect a ticket at authorised box offices (Camera di San Paolo, Palazzo Cusani, Casa della Musica, Museo Casa natale Arturo Toscanini and IAT).

Featured exhibitions and festival events

Bernardo Bertolucci. Il Novecento (Palazzo del Governatore) — A large interdisciplinary exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of the film "Novecento", curated by Gabriele Pedullà and Electa. Opening hours: Wednesday–Sunday 10:00–19:00 (last admission 18:00). Tickets available with different price bands; box office tel. +39 0521 218035.

Parma 360° – Festival of Contemporary Creativity — Exhibitions and events across city venues:

  • Casa del Suono: "Synthetic Horizons. New geographies of Artificial Intelligence" — opening Saturday 18 at 15:00.
  • Palazzo Pigorini: "Michael Kenna. The River Po" — opening Saturday 18 at 16:00; 70 photographs dedicated to Italy's Po river.
  • Quadrifloux / Una nuova luce — opening Saturday 18 at 17:00; projects about fluorescent ink and contemporary illustration.
  • Galleria San Ludovico: "Antonio Barrese - Morphology Light" — opening Saturday 18 at 18:00.
  • Torrione Visconteo: "Del Sublime" — opening Saturday 18 at 19:00; a multimedia project.

Special hours: on Saturday 18 many venues remain open until 24:00 (except Casa del Suono). On Sunday 19 venues generally open from 11:00 to 20:00 (check individual locations for exceptions).
