'Everything Is Bright Here' — Lucia Buricelli solo show in Rome

The solo exhibition Everything Is Bright Here brings together photographs Lucia Buricelli produced in New York between 2019 and 2025. The series examines contemporary urban life and perceptual conditions through a visual language defined by intense color saturation and the deliberate use of direct flash.

Images are tightly framed and lit to compress space, turning ordinary urban fragments into scenes with an almost theatrical quality. Color functions as a selective device rather than a mere descriptive element, directing and destabilizing the viewer's gaze and highlighting the visual excess of the modern city.

Visitor tips to better appreciate the work:

  • Notice how direct flash shapes textures and isolates small details.
  • Look for the tension between documentary immediacy and chromatic artifice.
  • Focus on close framing that compresses space and intensifies surface qualities.

Practical information

  • Venue: Galleria Z.EMA, Via Giulia 201, Rome
  • Dates: on view until 28 May 2026
  • Opening hours: Wednesday - Saturday 15:00 – 19:30 or by appointment

Born in Venice in 1994, Lucia Buricelli divides her time between Venice and Milan. She began photographing in high school, focusing on street scenes in Venice, and later combined street practice with documentary approaches while studying in New York. Her work, which often uses flash and color as narrative tools, has been published internationally and engages contemporary questions about visibility and image consumption.
