Este, Area Olmo: archaeological campaign kicks off
A program of archaeological investigations has begun at the site known as All’Olmo in the municipality of Este (PD). Carried out in collaboration with the University of Verona and authorized by the Ministry of Culture, the campaign aims to reconstruct the route of the Decumanus, the principal east–west street of the Roman city that bordered the forum area.
The fieldwork runs from 4 to 29 May 2026 and prepares the ground for the planned Parco dell'Olmo, conceived both as a green public space and a cultural hub with educational activities and community events.
Guided visits open to the public
Archaeologists will lead free guided tours to show the excavation progress and the finds recovered. Scheduled visits:
- Friday 22 May 2026 — 1st slot: 16:30–17:15; 2nd slot: 17:30–18:15
- Friday 29 May 2026 — 1st slot: 16:30–17:15; 2nd slot: 17:30–18:15

Related urban regeneration works
Restoration and upgrading of the Parco di Palazzo Contarini are ongoing with an intervention of about €500,000. The plan includes new planting, accessible paths, recovery of historical structures and updated lighting and furnishings, aiming to deliver a green area that respects and enhances local heritage.
