The Emilia-Romagna region has updated its roster of recognized museums: following the latest resolution, the number of accredited institutions has risen to 134. Eight museums were newly admitted into the regional museum system (and thereby the national network), while thirteen others received accreditation renewals after a triennial evaluation.
Accreditation is based on the uniform quality levels introduced by the Ministry of Culture and adopted by the region. The accreditation process, launched in 2021, is carried out through annual application windows; the current update comes from the fifth window.
The inclusion of new museums and the renewal of existing ones strengthens the regional cultural network, enhancing services, visitor reception and collection care. The regional culture councillor stressed that this approach aims to make museums more accessible, higher quality and better connected with local communities.
In addition to new admissions, the resolution confirmed the renewed accreditation for 13 museums that maintained or improved the standards required by the regional review.
The expansion of the regional museum network offers benefits for cultural tourism, research and the promotion of local heritage.
