Edward Barber | Jay Osgerby. Alphabet — Triennale Milano

Period: 18 April – 6 September 2026

Triennale Milano presents Edward Barber | Jay Osgerby. Alphabet, the largest solo exhibition staged in Italy dedicated to the London-based design studio. Curated by Marco Sammicheli with an installation by studiomille, the show surveys three decades of design activity and highlights the formal "alphabet" of the designers: deliberate use of colour, engineered curvatures and distinct angle gradations that mark the development of their work.

Laid out chronologically in decade-themed sections, the exhibition combines objects displayed on plinths, a continuous shelving area showcasing prototypes and mock-ups, and an extensive selection of project sketches that document the creative dialogue between the designers and the manufacturers they collaborated with.

  • Key works on display: the London 2012 Olympic torch, Iris tables for Established & Sons, the Tab lamp for Flos and commissioned pieces such as the Rivington collection for Mutina.
  • Installation: a scenographic arrangement of stepped seating and plinths creating a theatrical "studio" environment that encourages study and contemplation.
  • Publication: an Electa catalogue featuring essays, interviews, drawings and photographs documenting thirty years of the studio's practice.

The exhibition also emphasises relationships with Italian and international producers, underlining how these collaborations shaped the studio's methods and dialogue within global design culture.
