Gallerie d’Italia in Turin presents Replaced by Diana Markosian, curated by Brandei Estes. The exhibition pairs a photographic series with a new film adapted for the museum’s immersive room to examine memory, loss and the rewriting of emotional histories.
Working across photography, cinema and installation, Markosian stages reenactments that reveal how intimacy and once-sacred places can be shared and remade after a relationship ends. The artist uses staged elements — including an actor who reconstructs tender and breaking moments — to probe the boundary between genuine memory and narrative construction.
Replaced investigates cycles of attachment, separation and memory, presenting images that occupy the fragile space between presence and absence. The exhibition is accompanied by the #INSIDE public program, offering free talks and events open to the public.
Who should go: the show is suited to audiences interested in contemporary practices that blend documentary and staged narration, and in the relationship between photographic image and filmic storytelling.
