The Saint-Bénin Center in Aosta presents "Mario Giacomelli. Beyond the Visible", an exhibition featuring more than 150 photographs by the renowned Senigallia-born photographer. Organized with the Mario Giacomelli Archive and Electa, the show arranges his works in a non-chronological sequence to emphasize the poetic and magical-realist qualities of his imagery.
Displayed series include Io non ho mani che accarezzino il mio volto, Caroline Branson da Spoon River, Verrà la morte e avrà i tuoi occhi and Per poesie e favola. The photographs examine themes such as seminar life, rural existence and human fragility, transformed by Giacomelli into images of strong emotional intensity.
The exhibition is an opportunity to explore Giacomelli’s vision: a self-taught photographer who moved beyond documentary realism to produce images rich in inner tension and symbolism. The curatorial choices highlight his use of light and composition to convey memory and imagination.
Before visiting, check the Saint-Bénin Center's official channels for possible updates to opening times or ticketing conditions.
