From ancient routes to cultural tourism: conference and exhibition in Pozzuoli

Palazzo Toledo opens its doors on 22 and 23 April for a two-day programme dedicated to archaeological research and the potential of cultural tourism. The initiative, held in memory of Robert Ross Holloway, includes a scientific conference, guided tours and the contemporary art and photography exhibition "Visions of Bronze".

  • Rediscovery and enhancement of archaeological sites in the Phlegraean area and the wider Mediterranean.
  • Bronze Age studies on the islet of Vivara and early Helladic–Mycenaean contacts in the central Mediterranean.
  • Marks and symbols on Capo Graziano pottery (Aeolian Islands) and recent research at the fortified village of the Faraglioni (Ustica).
  • The female deity statuette found by R.R. Holloway and the fortified settlement on Castiglione hill at Casamicciola (Ischia).

  • Presentations by scholars including Massimiliano Marazzi, Pierfrancesco Talamo, Carla Pepe, Teodoro Scarano, Maurizio Cattani and others.
  • Exhibition curated by Anna Russolillo and Anna Abbate featuring works by Pina Testa, Katalin Visky, Ciro D’Alessio and photography by Vittorio Sciosia.
  • Project partners: RoMeB, Parco Archeologico di Himera Solunto Iato, Università Suor Orsola Benincasa, accademia CF, Kyme and Villaggio Letterario.

The event aims to connect scientific research, heritage memory and contemporary artistic perspectives to promote cultural enjoyment and sustainable territorial development.
