The second Livio Scattolini Award was held in Corinaldo to honor villages that excel in preserving historical, cultural and social heritage. The ceremony at Teatro Carlo Goldoni featured institutional speeches focused on protection, sustainability and the development of historic town centers.
The award commemorates Livio Scattolini, former mayor of Corinaldo and vice-president of the association "I Borghi più belli d'Italia", recognized for initiatives that improved local services and promoted the territory.
Prizes were awarded across four categories designed to spotlight different aspects of local development:
The Municipality of Sassoferrato was among the recognized communities and is listed among Italy's most beautiful villages.
Speakers highlighted demographic challenges affecting many small towns, such as depopulation and an aging population, and the need for targeted recovery strategies.
The Marche Region has allocated more than €100 million to support recovery, post-earthquake reconstruction and local development projects.
A regional grant is currently open to fund events, initiatives and activities in villages and historic centers, aiming to promote local products, traditions and year-round tourism. The call is open until 14 May 2026.
Participating in awards and tracking regional calls can provide visibility, partnership networks and tangible resources for those working on village revitalization.
