The École française de Rome has established a permanent exhibition gallery at its Piazza Navona premises to host displays and events focused on cultural and archaeological heritage. Exhibitions are free to the public and aim to bridge specialist research with a wider audience.
The inaugural exhibition is titled "L’École française de Rome 1875-2025. An Italian and Mediterranean vocation", a documentary journey through 150 years of research, cultural exchange and collaboration with Italy and Mediterranean countries. The display combines panels, photographs, archival documents and multimedia materials to present the institution’s main research fields.
The gallery aims to promote the École’s scientific work and make research outcomes more accessible. The 150th anniversary exhibition highlights the institution’s contribution to Etruscology, Roman topography, the study of papal history and other fields connected to Italian heritage.
Practical tips: check the École française de Rome’s official website for current opening hours before visiting, consider guided visits or educational activities for schools and study groups, and allocate time to read panels and archival materials on display.
Recommended for: archaeology enthusiasts, students and researchers, cultural professionals and anyone interested in the history and preservation of heritage.
