Cerveteri: temporary access limitations at the Banditaccia Necropolis

Between 18 and 30 March 2026, the visitor route at the Banditaccia Necropolis in Cerveteri will be partially restricted. The Archaeological Park has announced that certain zones of the monumental area will be closed to the public to allow maintenance work and authorized film productions to take place safely.

The site will remain open: visitors can still see significant sections of the Etruscan necropolis, but the usual itinerary will be shortened and clearly signposted for safety and operational reasons.

Practical information for visitors

  • Restriction period: 18–30 March 2026.
  • Access: some areas closed; alternative, reduced route available.
  • Tickets and opening hours: the site remains operational under regular hours; check for updates before your visit.
  • Reason: conservation works and authorized film shoots.
  • Advice: follow on-site signage and staff instructions, consider advance booking if available, allow extra time in case of itinerary changes.

These measures are part of ongoing preservation and promotion efforts: maintenance work helps protect the archaeological structures, while film activities can increase the site's visibility at national and international level.

Unless otherwise announced, the full visitor route is expected to be restored from 31 March 2026. Visitors are advised to consult the Archaeological Park's official channels for the latest information before planning their trip.
