Two important areas of the Casa Vasari museum itinerary, located at via XX Settembre 55 in Arezzo, are once again open to visitors following maintenance and improvement works. The spaces are the Abraham Chamber (the artist's bridal room) and the evocative hanging garden.
The Abraham Chamber, accessible again from 7 March, is entirely decorated with a cycle dedicated to the stories of Abraham and stands as a key example of the Mannerist decoration Giorgio Vasari created for his home. The room presents a complex iconographic program that combines biblical themes, moral references and the celebration of virtue within a richly crafted decorative setting.
The hanging garden, reopened from 11 March, is an outdoor space overlooking the city fabric and is a distinctive feature of Vasari's residence: designed for quiet reflection, it blends architecture and nature in the Renaissance spirit of harmony between built environment and landscape.
Important: the painting Deposition of Christ from the Tomb, normally displayed in the Abraham Chamber, is not currently on site as it has been loaned to the Capitoline Museums for an exhibition in Rome running from 20 March to 19 July.
