Carlo Galfione: Beyond the Wall — Oratorio Salesiano Michele Rua, Turin

Beyond the Wall is a participatory art project that converts a disused wall of the Oratorio Salesiano into an open-air fresco. The artist Carlo Galfione worked directly with secondary-school classes in a creative process that returns a regenerated space to the community, rich in local stories and identities.

The intervention is not a traditional mural: it uses wallpapers and fabrics as active pictorial supports, layering domestic patterns with students’ drawings. Images surface gradually and invite close observation to appreciate their layered narratives.
