Siena: FMS Academy opens internships for six recent graduates

The Fondazione Musei Senesi has launched the FMS Academy, a programme for recent graduates under 30 that pairs classroom training with practical internships at several museums within the Siena network. The initiative aims to strengthen operational skills in cultural heritage management, communication and public engagement.

Assignments and professional profiles

• Letizia Gagliano (Asti, 2000) – communication designer: placed in the offices of the Fondazione Musei Senesi.
• Denise Latrofa (Bari, 2001) – visual arts management: assigned to the Museo del Paesaggio (Castelnuovo Berardenga).
• Giulia Mozzini (Montepulciano, 1996) – art history and digital museology: assigned to the Pinacoteca Crociani (Montepulciano).
• Maddalena Postinger (Trento, 2001) – education and outreach: will work at the Museo Civico Archeologico e della Collegiata (Casole d'Elsa).
• Veronica Quagliata (Messina, 1997) – art history and cultural tourism: placed within the Civic Collections of the Municipality of Siena.
• Lorenzo Testi (Poggibonsi, 1998) – prehistoric archaeology and heritage communication: assigned to the Museo Civico per la Preistoria del Monte Cetona (Cetona).

Training content

The initial phase of the Academy includes about one month of lectures and workshops led by sector professionals. Key training areas include:

• Accessibility and inclusion to broaden museum audiences;
• Heritage interpretation and teaching techniques for guided visits and workshops;
• Digital communication and tools to promote collections online;
• Participatory design, sustainability practices and visitor-oriented technologies.

Duration, funding and participating museums

Internships start with a six-month period, extendable for an additional six months. The project is financed by the Tuscany regional FSE+ 2021–2027 programme under the Giovanisì initiative and involves local authorities and territorial partners.
