Pisan New Year 2027: drone show along the lungarni and historic parade

Autore: Redazione 27/03/2026 00:39

Pisan New Year 2027: quick overview

The Pisan New Year returns with two main events: a technological drone show on the evening of Saturday, March 28 and a historic parade through the city center on Sunday, March 29. Both initiatives highlight the riverfront (lungarni) and the historic core with visual displays and period reenactments.

What to see and where

  • Drone show: starts around 23:00, approximately 15 minutes. Best viewing points include Ponte di Mezzo and the adjacent stretches of Lungarno Mediceo and Lungarno Galilei.
  • Historic parade “Vexiludi”: Sunday afternoon, from 16:00 to 18:00. The procession crosses the main central streets and finishes with a final performance in Piazza dei Cavalieri.
  • Related activities will take place in areas like Giardino Scotto and Bastione Sangallo.

Traffic changes and safety

Temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be enforced for public safety. Key points:

  • During the night of March 28, several lungarni sections will be closed to traffic and parking, and both Ponte di Mezzo and Ponte della Fortezza will be inaccessible to vehicles.
  • The parade on March 29 will require short-term traffic suspensions along its route (including piazza Vittorio Emanuele, corso Italia, Borgo Stretto and Piazza dei Cavalieri).
  • Areas used for drone operations will be secured; please follow instructions from local authorities and do not enter restricted zones.

Visitor tips

  • Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot, especially near Ponte di Mezzo where crowds concentrate.
  • Use public transport or walk where possible; follow temporary signage and staff directions.
  • Some viewing areas may be off-limits for safety — respect barriers and signage when photographing or filming.
  • Check local updates for last-minute changes to traffic arrangements and reserved parking for event staff.

Why attend: the Pisan New Year weekend is an opportunity to experience Pisa’s historic center and riverfront with events that blend technological spectacle and local tradition, promoting community participation and cultural heritage.
