On Saturday 9 May 2026 Pontedera hosts the Walk of Smiles, an inclusive event combining light exercise, awareness-raising and family-friendly entertainment.

Practical information

• Date and time: Saturday 9 May 2026, starting from Centro Sportivo Bellaria at 3:00 PM.
• Routes: three options — 3 km, 4 km and 7 km — mainly along riverbanks and easy urban paths suitable for all ages.
• Registration and participation: free entry with on-site registration; voluntary donations accepted.
• Donation beneficiaries: funds will be donated to Meyer Children’s Hospital and the Persone Williams Italia association.

On-site activities

The event includes pet therapy sessions, workshops, storytelling and entertainment for children such as soap bubbles and eco-friendly balloons. Every participant will receive a race pack, and there will be a draw for children's book vouchers.

Purpose and community impact

The walk aims to raise awareness about Williams syndrome and to support affected children and their families by promoting inclusion and community solidarity. The initiative is organized with the patronage of the Municipality of Pontedera and the participation of local partners.
