Calabria ranks second in Italy for Blue Flags: 27 awards and four new entries

Calabria has earned the second position in Italy for the number of Blue Flags, receiving 27 recognitions from the Foundation for Environmental Education. The tally includes four new entries: Amendolara, Montegiordano, Falerna and Locri.

Regional president Roberto Occhiuto credited the achievement to years of work, highlighting investments in wastewater treatment, stricter controls on discharges and coastal clean-up initiatives. According to the region, these measures have made the sea a valued environmental and tourism asset at national and international level.
