Bruce Gilden in Brescia: his first major solo exhibition in Italy

From March 27 to August 23, 2026, Brescia becomes the first Italian city to present a major monographic exhibition by Bruce Gilden, a leading figure in Street Photography and a Magnum Photos member. The programme includes a large-scale show at the Museo di Santa Giulia and a site-specific installation at the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo.

Curated by Denis Curti in direct collaboration with the artist and Magnum Photos, the project is part of the IX Brescia Photo Festival and brings together images spanning Gilden’s multi-decade career.

• A closer look — Museo di Santa Giulia (via dei Musei 81/b): March 27 – August 23, 2026. About 80 photographs, centered on the Faces series (2013–2024), featuring Gilden’s close, flash-lit portraits.
• Grace / Grazia. Bruce Gilden per Raffaello — Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo (piazza Moretto 4): March 27 – July 12, 2026. A site-specific installation presenting a diptych commissioned to the photographer that dialogues with classical works on the theme of grace.

The exhibition includes early black-and-white work, city reportage made worldwide, and two audiovisual elements: an interview tracing Gilden’s biography and a video produced by Magnum Photos. A single catalogue, published by Skira, accompanies both projects.
