Arena di Verona: the longest Opera Festival in its history

Period: from 5 June to 12 September 2026

The Arena di Verona presents its most extensive opera season to date: over three months of programming and 53 nights featuring opera, concerts and dance. The season pairs fresh productions with established repertoire, showcasing international singers and conductors.

What to expect

  • Six main opera productions and several special-event evenings;
  • A new staging of La Traviata, scheduled for 13 performances through 12 September;
  • Two different productions of Aida, recent stagings of Nabucco and La Bohème;
  • Commemorations such as the 100th anniversary of Turandot and nationally broadcast special events.

Line-up, workforce and scale

The season will involve about 1,300 professionals across artistic, technical and administrative roles, with more than 80 conductors and singers on the roster. The programme includes established stars alongside emerging voices, offering both vocal highlights and notable directorial debuts.

  • Notable performers include Anna Netrebko, Lisette Oropesa, Rosa Feola, Anna Pirozzi, Roberto Alagna;
  • Conductors and directors such as Michele Spotti, Daniel Oren, James Conlon and Paul Curran (director of the new Traviata);
  • Scenic and costume design by leading professionals aiming to blend historical accuracy with contemporary visual impact.

Opening events

The season features a double opening on 12 and 13 June with the new production of La Traviata, which relocates the drama to Belle Époque Paris with a visually striking staging.

Why attend

  • An opportunity to see innovative productions and performances by international artists;
  • Cultural and economic relevance for Verona, fostering opera outreach and the growth of new audiences;
  • Special events that combine opera, national celebration and artistic initiatives.

Tickets, the full schedule and related events can be found through Fondazione Arena di Verona's official channels and authorised ticketing outlets.
