Arena di Verona: “Champions of the World – Italy Loves UNESCO”

The Fondazione Arena di Verona stages a special evening dedicated to Italy’s UNESCO heritage: an event combining grand opera, live performance and moments highlighting national culinary traditions. The show will be broadcast worldwide on Rai 1 and features internationally renowned artists.

What to expect

  • Main guests: Plácido Domingo, Vittorio Grigolo, Patti Smith.
  • Production: Orchestra and Choir of the Fondazione Arena di Verona with over 500 musicians, dancers and performers on stage.
  • Program: famous opera scenes, choreography, mime and large-scale stage designs suited to the monumental Arena setting.
  • Gastronomy in Piazza Bra: a live preparation of a large communal dinner for about 1,000 people in tribute to Italy’s UNESCO recognition for its culinary heritage.
  • Neapolitan song: the event will include the launch of the classical Neapolitan song candidacy for UNESCO World Heritage, with artistic routes between the Teatro Filarmonico and the Arena and participation from international UNESCO delegates.
