FMS Academy: six recent graduates placed in internships across Siena museums

The Fondazione Musei Senesi has launched the FMS Academy, a program for under-30 graduates that combines classroom training with practical internships at museums in the Siena network. The initiative aims to strengthen operational skills in collection management, public engagement and communication.

Assignments and professional profiles

• Letizia Gagliano (Asti, 2000) – communication designer: placed within the Fondazione Musei Senesi offices.
• Denise Latrofa (Bari, 2001) – visual arts management: assigned to the Museo del Paesaggio (Castelnuovo Berardenga).
• Giulia Mozzini (Montepulciano, 1996) – art history and digital museology: assigned to the Pinacoteca Crociani (Montepulciano).
• Maddalena Postinger (Trento, 2001) – education and outreach: will work at the Museo Civico Archeologico e della Collegiata (Casole d'Elsa).
• Veronica Quagliata (Messina, 1997) – art history and cultural tourism: placed in the Civic Collections of the Municipality of Siena.
• Lorenzo Testi (Poggibonsi, 1998) – prehistoric archaeology and heritage communication: assigned to the Museo Civico per la Preistoria del Monte Cetona (Cetona).

Training content

Participants will attend targeted modules to develop practical and transferable skills relevant to museum work, including:

• accessibility and inclusion to broaden audiences;
• heritage interpretation and teaching techniques for guided tours and workshops;
• digital communication and tools to enhance online collections;
• participatory planning, sustainability practices and visitor-focused technologies.

Duration, funding and goals

The internships initially last six months, with a possible extension of another six months. The project is funded by the regional FSE+ Tuscany 2021–2027 program under the Giovanisì initiative and involves local authorities and partners. The aim is to facilitate young professionals' entry into the cultural heritage sector and to foster collaboration among local museum institutions.
