State Archives and Rai Libri join to tell the story of Italians

At the Turin International Book Fair the Ministry of Culture and Rai Com presented a framework agreement in the presence of Minister Alessandro Giuli, Director General of Archives Antonio Tarasco and Rai Libri director Adriano Monti Buzzetti.

The agreement entrusts Rai Libri with producing catalogues for exhibitions and public events organized by the State Archives across Italy, and with designing an editorial series of historical fiction, novels and popular essays inspired by archival sources.

Main goals:

  • to promote the national documentary heritage through accessible editorial tools;
  • to broaden public engagement with the State Archives;
  • to ensure scientific and cultural quality via a Scientific Committee made up of writers, journalists and historians.

Minister Alessandro Giuli highlighted that archives preserve the living traces of collective history and that collaboration with Rai helps make this heritage more accessible to citizens. Sergio Santo, CEO of Rai Com, described the agreement as an opportunity for public cultural service to turn documents and testimonies into engaging instruments of knowledge.

The initiative aims to build a bridge between past and present by offering illustrated catalogues and narrative works that bring to light the stories of institutions, territories, families and ordinary people found in archival records.
