Antonio Biasiucci — 'Archetypes' at the Royal Palace of Caserta

Period: from May 31 to November 30, 2026. Opening: May 30, 2026.

The Royal Palace of Caserta presents 'Archetypes', an expansive exhibition by Antonio Biasiucci curated by Tiziana Maffei and organized by Valeria Di Fratta and Paola Servillo. Located in the Grand Gallery, the display brings together roughly 300 works — photographs, polyptychs and site-specific installations — that investigate relationships between people, nature and collective memory.

Highlights

  • Venue: Grand Gallery, Royal Palace of Caserta.
  • Works: approximately 300 images and installations, including immersive pieces and site-specific interventions.
  • Main themes: bread, milk and mozzarella, volcanic landscapes, rituals and faith, silk labor, collective memory and migration.
  • Structure: an exhibition organized in 24 thematic sections with immersive installations.

Exhibition route and notable works

The show opens in the Palatine Chapel with a sequence of 27 ex-voto objects that set a contemplative, enigmatic tone. It continues through thematic sections hosting immersive works such as "Corpo latteo" and site-specific pieces like "Molti", inspired by facial casts preserved at the Museum of Anthropology in Naples.

In the Grand Gallery, two monoliths featuring numbers by Mimmo Paladino emphasize migration and identity loss. A dedicated section marks the 250th anniversary of the San Leucio Colony, where textile machines and rollers narrate the history of silk production and women's labor identity.

Why visit

Biasiucci converts concrete elements of local life into universal symbols: food, bodies and volcanic landscapes become archetypes that transcend local context. His method pares subjects down to their expressive core to foreground symbolic meaning.
