Aquinum becomes an Archeotech lab: tech trials at the archaeological site

On 22 April 2026 the Monastery of Villa Eucheria in Castrocielo hosted the Archeotech Matching Showcase, an event designed to connect startups, research centers, local institutions and cultural operators to experiment with technologies applied to the Aquinum archaeological area.

The initiative is part of the Terre di Aquinum valorisation project and aims to turn scientific activities into tangible opportunities for the territory, with positive effects on tourism, employment and sustainability.

Technologies and activities presented

• Drones for aerial surveys and high-resolution mapping;
• Non-invasive methods (geophysics and remote sensing) to investigate the subsurface without excavation;
• 3D models and digital reconstructions for documentation, research and conservation;
• Immersive solutions (virtual and augmented reality) to enhance public engagement and accessibility.

Participants and format

The event gathered tech and cultural companies, universities, foundations and municipal representatives. The format included hands-on demonstrations, matching sessions between technology providers and site managers, and roundtables to define pilot projects to be implemented on site.
