Anna Perach — Dis/Enchanted Interiors: first institutional solo in Italy

MAD Murate Art District hosts Dis/Enchanted Interiors, the first institutional solo exhibition in Italy by artist Anna Perach, exhibited across the MAD spaces and the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology at the University of Florence. The exhibition is free and open until 12 July 2026.

The project explores the relationship between heritage and contemporary practice, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary languages and plural cultural perspectives. Curators are Veronica Caciolli and Valentina Gensini.

What to see

The selection includes works made from 2019 to the present: tufted textile installations, wearable sculptures and site-specific pieces that address colonialism, exoticism, folk traditions, identity and gender issues.

  • Mother of Monsters — a reinterpretation of a story that questions control over the female body through the motif of the corset.
  • Alkonost — a take on the Slavic bird-woman myth, oscillating between seduction and danger.
  • Uncanny Valley — embroidered heads that evoke cultural memory and a sense of unease.
  • Dismembered Venus — reflections on the female body combining archetypal and historical anatomical sources.

Events and activations

The inauguration on Thursday 14 May 2026 at 18:00 features performances activating several works, developed in collaboration with choreographer Barbara Carulli and performed by dancers from Centro Culturale Garage P., with sound contributions by artist SADI. Two new works by the artist are presented, one intentionally placed outside the museum route at the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology.
