Anghiari reopens its workshops: Handicraft Market returns

Anghiari celebrates handcrafted excellence with the 51st edition of the Valtiberina Handicraft Market. The event animates the medieval village over two weekends: April 24–26 and May 1–3, 2026, showcasing handmade products and local craftsmanship.

Designed to highlight historic workshops and local artisans, the market combines tradition and contemporary practice. Organized by local bodies and associations together with the municipality and trade organizations, it offers activities for residents, visitors and schools.

  • When: April 24–26, 2026 and May 1–3, 2026; workshops open from 10:00 to 19:00.
  • Opening ceremony: Friday, April 24 at 17:00 in the auditorium of Sala del Cassero.
  • Highlights: Neapolitan madonnari masters, a leatherworking masterclass with a young Florentine artisan, the exhibition "From Stone to Marble between [Carrara]" and the show "The Crafts of Art between the Tiber and the Arno" inspired by Michelangelo.
  • Side events: conference on craft and younger generations (morning of April 29) with the Leonardo da Vinci Award, a guided visit to the Busatti company, a theatre meeting with Chiara Francini and local performances.

This event is ideal for those seeking an authentic village experience: learn traditional techniques, meet craftsmen and buy handmade items. Visitors can also enjoy historical walks and local eateries in the Valtiberina area.

Practical tips: arrive early for guided tours and masterclasses, check the daily schedule for session times and reserve places for limited-capacity activities. Workshops and stalls are spread across the historic center and are easy to explore on foot.
