History and description
Built during the Julio-Claudian age, probably under Emperor Tiberius, the amphitheater is an elliptical structure that could host around 10,000 spectators. Constructed with pietra sponga and limestone, it has preserved its walls, the perimeter gallery, radial chambers, and a small section of the inner corridor.
Curiosities
Although commonly known as the Fausto Amphitheater, after a seviro mentioned in an inscription, the name does not indicate a dedication to him but rather identifies the amphitheater as an independent structure.
Access
The site can be visited with mandatory reservation and is often used for events, exhibitions, or guided tours. Admission costs €5, with reductions and specific free entries available.
How to reach it
Located next to Terni Cathedral, the Amphitheater of Interamna Nahars can be reached by car, with parking available, by urban bus lines, or on foot following the signs.
An archaeological and cultural gem within the historic center of Terni, the well-preserved remains of the Roman amphitheater allow a harmonious coexistence of past and present.
