The Ministry of Culture has named Andrea Viliani Curator and Coordinator of the Digital Heritage Gateway Platform (DHGP), a strategic project to develop an advanced digital platform dedicated to Italy’s museum heritage.
The DHGP is designed as a digital space to test new approaches to conservation, access and interpretation of collections. It aims to broaden public engagement through immersive technologies and interactive tools, overcoming the physical constraints of museum sites.
Key aims of the DHGP:
The appointment reflects continuity with ongoing cultural experimentation and Viliani’s extensive curatorial experience in institutions focused on contemporary art and museum research.
Professional background
Andrea Viliani has held leadership and curatorial roles at major Italian institutions, including MAMbo, the Galleria Civica foundation in Trento, MADRE Naples and MUCIV in Rome, and has coordinated initiatives linking archaeology and contemporary art. In his new role he will coordinate the intersection of museums, digital technologies and public engagement, steering the development of innovative ways to access and narrate Italy’s cultural heritage.
The DHGP represents one of the most ambitious projects in Italy’s museum digitalization landscape, with significant potential for research, education and cultural participation.
