Alatri unveils new camper parking area announced at «Fit Your Camper»

At the Fit Your Camper fair in BolognaFiere (9-12 April 2026) Alatri’s municipal administration spoke live on Radio108 to present a new camper parking area located very close to the historic center.

• Location: approximately 300 metres from the historic centre.
• Number of pitches: about 20-25, with potential for expansion if demand grows.
• Planned services: electric charging columns, waste disposal and water refill points; works mostly in place.
• Timing: the site is already usable as a parking area; full activation of services is expected within roughly a month, pending bureaucratic steps.

Mayor Maurizio Cianfrocca and Culture Delegate Sandro Titoni highlighted the role of itinerant tourism for the town and the wider Ciociaria area, noting recent recognition in the bid for Italy’s Capital of Culture 2028 and a rise in available accommodations in the historic centre.

Key cultural attractions mentioned for visitors include:

• The cyclopean walls: three defensive walls, with the acropolis reaching about 17 metres in height.
• The Christ in the Labyrinth: discovered in 1996 within the cloister of San Francesco, unique in Italy.
• Local religious and civic events that draw visitors, such as Good Friday processions and the feast of San Sisto.

The administration closed with an open invitation to travelers and camper enthusiasts: "Stop in Alatri" to explore its historic heritage and local farm-to-table offerings.
