From 1 April to 27 June 2026 Casa Suardi presents an exhibition curated by Piervaleriano Angelini that explores Giacomo Quarenghi's contribution to landscape design between the 18th and 19th centuries. The show draws on a valuable collection of drawings from the Biblioteca Civica Angelo Mai and the Historical Archives, combining technical plans and imaginative landscape views.
The exhibition shows how, at a time when the garden became a key setting to express new social tastes, Russia turned into an extraordinary workshop for the English-style park. Quarenghi designed pavilions, music rooms and coffeehouses where exotic references gradually gave way to a new language closely tied to classical antiquity. The itinerary presents technical projects and landscape fantasies that illustrate the balance between classically inspired architecture and the natural environment.
