Opening: April 27, 2026 · Venue: Centro Culturale Candiani, Mestre
MUVEC – the House of Contemporary Art, part of the Fondazione MUVE, has opened in Mestre as a cultural and social hub on the Venetian mainland. The project includes urban redevelopment measures with a new entrance, upgraded reception area and renovated exhibition rooms equipped to host works from the collection as well as loans from other national and international institutions.
The museum program is structured on two main lines:
The permanent galleries are organized into three thematic and chronological sections — Destruction, Reconstruction, Deconstruction — tracing developments in art from the post-war period to the present. The displays include artists connected to the local context as well as international figures such as Emilio Vedova, Gastone Novelli, Thomas Ruff, Claudio Parmiggiani, Bill Viola, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Joseph Kosuth and Arnaldo Pomodoro.
The Fondazione describes MUVEC as an opportunity to test new forms of public engagement and to strengthen cultural offerings on the mainland, promoting inclusivity and dialogue through the plurality of contemporary art languages.
Practical note: the museum opened to the public on April 27, 2026 at Centro Culturale Candiani in Mestre. For up-to-date information on opening hours, guided tours and tickets, check the official channels of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
