64th World Theatre Day: Marche's programme

On March 27 the World Theatre Day is celebrated internationally. In the Marche region a schedule of initiatives showcases the local scenic heritage: from historic theatres to community stages, offerings include drama, children’s theatre, circus and contemporary performance.

Activities are promoted by institutional and cultural partners including the Region of Marche, Fondazione Marche Cultura, AMAT and Consorzio Marche Spettacolo. Together they support the Network of Historic Theatres of Marche, which brings together 62 venues across the region.

Selected events

• March 24 – Civitanova Marche, Teatro Rossini: "Io e Gianlu" — a surreal encounter piece starring Marta Zoboli and Gianluca de Angelis.
• March 25 – Civitanova Marche, Teatro Rossini: "A casa tutti bene" — theatrical adaptation of Gabriele Muccino's film, featuring Giuseppe Zeno and Anna Galiena.
• March 26 – Urbino, Sala del Maniscalco: final show of the University Theatre Aenigma workshop, with public participation in expressive exercises.
• March 27 – Ancona, Teatro delle Muse: all-day programming including "Bollicine Update" with Max Giusti and the children’s show "Il Coniglio Guglielmo".
• March 27 – Corinaldo, Teatro Goldoni: "Poetic djset" — a poetic-sonic portrait of Sarah Kane, Anaïs Nin and Sylvia Plath.
• March 27 – Ripatransone, Teatro Mercantini: "Antigone – Beyond the law of men", a contemporary staging of Sophocles' classic.
• March 27 – Fabriano, Teatro Gentile da Fabriano: guided visits and study of the historic curtain by Luigi Serra.

World Theatre Day in Marche underlines the central role of theatres as cultural hubs. Audiences are advised to check schedules and reserve tickets through the individual theatres or organisers before attending.
