April 25 in Tirano: a day of commemorations for the 81st Anniversary of Liberation

On April 25 the town of Tirano will observe the 81st anniversary of Liberation with a program combining official ceremonies, historical remembrance and cultural events open to the public.

• 08:00 - Flag-raising ceremony in Piazza Marinoni, attended by the National Alpine Association – Tirano Group and civil and military representatives.
• 14:00 - Start of the "Camminata della Resistenza" from Palazzo Marinoni, led by Antonio Muraca (board of Italy Nostra APS), as part of the Valtellina Virtuale project – Cultural Olympics grant.
• 15:00 - Gathering in via Balgera at the Palazzo del Penitenziere for the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in memory of Ermanno Balgera, with authorities and ANPI representatives present.
• 15:30 - In the garden of the MET – Museo Etnografico Tiranese, municipal addresses and the presentation of the book "Guardali negli occhi" by Franco Saligari, followed by readings entitled "Resistance: yesterday, today, tomorrow".

The day will conclude with a reception open to the public, organized by ANPI Tirano, as a moment of meeting and sharing. Events will take place even in case of bad weather. The invitation is extended to the entire community to reflect on the value of memory and freedom.
