March 10: Free regional museums in memory of Sebastiano Tusa

The Region has designated March 10 to honour the cultural heritage of Sicily in memory of archaeologist Sebastiano Tusa, who died in 2019. On this day admission to regional museums, archaeological parks and cultural venues will be free, complemented by guided tours, talks and educational activities for residents, families and students.

• Palazzo Montalbo – Regional Centre for Planning and Restoration (CRPR): guided tours at 9:30 and 12:00 of the 14,000-volume library and diagnostic/restoration laboratories; two groups of 20 people each.
• Regional Archaeological Museum "Antonino Salinas": free educational visit at 11:00, organized by CoopCulture, presenting the museum's archaeological collections from across Sicily.
• Palazzo Abatellis Regional Gallery: guided visits of the collections at 10:00 and 12:00; at 10:30 a focused tour on a newly displayed 16th-century embroidered saddle.
• Museo Riso (contemporary art): project presentation at 11:00 for "Cantiere cultura e del contemporaneo" and a guided tour at 16:00 of the Richard Long collection, curated by CoopCulture.
• Archaeological Parks of Himera, Solunto and Iato: activities and guided visits for schools and the public: 9:00 at the Antiquarium Minissi deposits; 11:00 and 16:30 visits to the Temple of Victory and the Pirro Marconi Museum; additional afternoon turns at the deposits.
• Regional Museum of Natural History – Palazzo d'Aumale (Terrasini): 17:00 guided visit to the exhibition "Behind the scenes: a historic collection of Sicilian puppets", featuring the puppeteer Pietro Scalisi.
