Are you ready to discover it with us?
The history of Egyptian civilisation, which began near the Nile and spanned approximately three millennia, is characterised by elements that have left a lasting legacy in human history and, for this reason, make it one of the most fascinating chapters in ancient history. Flourishing from 3100 BC onwards, thanks to navigation on the Nile for trade and the use of silt for cultivation, the civilisation distinguished itself over the centuries for its cultural, scientific, religious and architectural advances, as well as for its highly hierarchical society, headed by the pharaoh.

Producers of impressive works of art such as the pyramids of Giza, temples dedicated to zoomorphic gods and numerous statues, the Egyptians were also known for their hieroglyphic writing system and their particular attention to the cult of the dead, providing for the mummification of the deceased and, consequently, the construction of pyramids on the tombs of the pharaohs. A civilisation that developed in several cities, such as Memphis, Thebes and Giza, it saw a succession of numerous rulers, such as Akhenaten, Tutankhamun and Ramses II, and only declined in 332-30 BC when it came under the hegemony of first the Macedonians and then the Romans.

Curated by Dr Tarek El Awady and Dr Zahi Hawass, the exhibition is an unmissable opportunity to view 130 masterpieces from Egypt's most important museums, such as the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and the Luxor Museum, as well as the Egyptian Museum in Turin. Divided into six thematic sections, which will allow the public to immerse themselves in history from the beginning of civilisation to the archaeological discoveries of recent years, the exhibition is a journey into the complexity of Egyptian society and will feature statues of Sennefer, Ramses VI and Thutmose III, royal jewellery, everyday objects and sarcophagi decorated with sacred symbols.
