A symbol of creativity and innovation in the Italian art scene, Arte Fiera Bologna returns for its 49th edition, from 6 to 8 February 2026 in pavilions 25 and 26 of the Bologna Exhibition Centre, confirming its role as a benchmark for Italian contemporary art.

Arte Fiera Bologna – a bridge between history and the future

Founded in 1974, Arte Fiera is Italy's longest-running modern and contemporary art fair. For over half a century, it has been an unmissable event for collectors, critics, gallery owners, artists and enthusiasts.

The 2026 edition, entitled “Cosa sarà?” (What will be?), marks a new phase under the guidance of Artistic Director Davide Ferri and Operations Director Enea Righi, with the aim of combining tradition and innovation and exploring the many facets of contemporary Italian and international art.

The programme - between tradition and experimentation

Arte Fiera, which features over 170 Italian and international galleries, together with institutional spaces and publishers dedicated to visual culture, for a total of around 200 exhibitors at the fair, is divided into several curated and selected sections, designed to offer a rich and varied experience, namely:

  • Main Section - a dialogue between historicised and contemporary art
  • Photography and Surroundings (curated by Marta Papini) - dedicated to the image in all its forms
  • Multiples (curated by Lorenzo Gigotti) - editioned works, objects and graphics
  • Painting XXI (curated by Ilaria Gianni) - contemporary painting
  • Prospettiva (curated by Michele D'Aurizio) – focus on emerging research
  • Ventesimo+ (curated by Alberto Salvadori) – reflections on collecting
  • Publishing and Institutions – publishers, periodicals and cultural institutions

In addition to the exhibitions on display in the pavilions, Bologna will come alive with ART CITY Bologna, a programme of exhibitions, events and initiatives spread throughout the city. The event will also feature Art City White Night, a night of art with events, special openings and cultural performances in public and private venues.
