Palazzo Roverella, Rovigo presents an exhibition that outlines Federico Zandomeneghi’s artistic development, showing how the Venetian painter bridged Italian traditions and the innovations of Parisian Impressionism. The show highlights his unique blend of compositional clarity and Impressionist color.
The exhibition follows his formative stages: early involvement with the Macchiaioli and the Florentine circle, followed by the decisive move to Paris, where he cultivated close ties with Degas, Renoir, Pissarro and other leading figures. In Italy he engaged with socially oriented subjects; in Paris he embraced the depiction of modern life.
The curated selection allows visitors to follow Zandomeneghi’s stylistic progression: from socially conscious canvases aligned with Macchiaioli ideals to Parisian works where light and domestic intimacy define his mature practice.
Practical information:
This exhibition is a valuable chance to rediscover an original Impressionist voice that negotiated national roots and international dialogue, using attentive observation of gesture and atmosphere to depict modern life.
