Rignano sull’Arno unveils Susan Luppino’s permanent sculpture and solo show

The Municipality of Rignano sull’Arno launches a cultural initiative linking contemporary art and public space: on 18 April 2026 the sculpture Glissando will be presented and the artist’s solo exhibition inaugurated.

The program includes two moments designed to engage residents and visitors while enhancing the hilly landscape and local cultural heritage.

• 4:00 PM – Presentation of the sculpture Glissando (1993) in the Bombone area. The work will become a permanent part of the local landscape.
• 5:30 PM – Opening of Susan Luppino’s solo exhibition in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall.
• Exhibition – On view until 26 April 2026, with free admission during Town Hall opening hours.

Susan Luppino, born in New York in 1945 and trained in both the United States and Italy, studied at the Accademia di Firenze under sculptor Antonio Berti. Her five-decade-long practice focuses on the human figure and family relationships, primarily using clay and bronze and marked by strong emotional intensity.

The installation of Glissando enriches the local artistic heritage, reinforcing the relationship between contemporary art and public space and promoting broader access to the artist’s work.
